Quin was born in Brighton in March , on the fringes of the working class and the petit bourgeoisie, and then abandoned by her father, raised by her mother and sent to a convent school.

    Ann Quin is the author of four short novels that were published during her life. Before fully hitting her stride as an author, she completed two books that remain unpublished.
